CLE DAYS
CLE Days engage families and build community beyond the summer months. We routinely offer fun educational experiences during out-of-school days observed by Waukegan School District 60, such as District Institute Days, and reserve holidays like Presidents’ Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. For each CLE Day, a theme is selected based on either the holiday which it falls on, heritage months, or nature-based themes.
Past excursions have included Volo Bog, Illinois Beach State Park, Chicago Botanic Gardens, Skokie Lagoons, Greenbelt Forest Preserve, and Lake Forest Openlands. Students have enjoyed birdwatching courtesy of representatives of the Lake County Audubon Society and even built a four-person wooden canoe! Other partners have provided stewardship opportunities such as preparing for the spring planting season and garden clean-ups. Check out our social media for upcoming days to learn and play!
